I decided a while back to hare scramble my blasty project. Some upgrades are needed. I started with the suspension. Got a 400ex rear shock, Oconnor racing bushings, and banshee front shocks. I'm waiting on the upper bolt to conmplete the 400ex setup. Already got the banshee fronts installed. Unfortunately, looks like the banshee front are junk. They go down but take FOREVER to come back up. Any advice on this? Should I toss them or can they be worked on? (Below are some pics)

Also, I've been watching some of Ken's cylinder porting videos. They got me very interested. I have some questions though for those who have ported their engines. Do you loose any reliability? How significant is the gain in performance?

no you cannot rebuild banshee shocks I will be interested to see the answers you get on the port vids curious myshelf

I got some tools this week so I was able to start working on the engine. I'm starting with the bottom as one of my cases is cracked and will have to be replaced. The pictures below are from a spare engine that I'm using use for parts. I would like to replace all the bearings and seals but I'm having a hard time getting out some of them. Do you have any pointers on what to do with the bearings shown on the last three pictures?

You're going to replace ALL of the bearings? Why? Someone run it without transmission lube? I would check every bearing but only replace what's necessary.

The banshee shocks are not rebuildable. The compression control has failed and there's nothing to do about that but get new shocks or live with loose compression.

I thought about it just to start like brand new, but after checking the price of the bearings I'll probably keep what's good.

the bearings are cheap, why not replace everything while its apart? that's just asking for trouble later on and you got to split your cases again..

get a blind bearing puller for those bearings.

its not a bad idea to freshen up all the bearings while you're there, even if it isn't necessary. you'll never be closer

Thanks for the help. I ordered a puller this morning and will call the dealer to quote the bearings. I will post more pictures soon.

Here's an update on the project. The cases were split on both engines. All bearings on the cases I'm keeping were replaced and greased with marine grease. The transmission was installed. I also did some porting work. I'll add some pictures of that as soon as It's closer to complete.
