Good news :)

its all right guys i understand... makes me wish i would of got back on the forums an lil sooner so i knew what was all goin on lol

Back @ bob, I'm really liking that 'Shee. I just noticed its a J-arm model. Very cool; nice to see an older one being brought back from the dead!

What kind of pipes are you running? The 2-into-1 carb setup is not the best for that engine, and I agree you should upgrade later on, but it works and does make tuning much easier. If you can find an older Graydon Proline 2-into-1 setup, these make good power and don't have some of the shortcomings of the Trinity.

Also, have you checked your reeds and compression lately? Worn reeds and/or weak compression will make the engine run poorly no matter how much tuning or adjustment you try to do to it.

you know i never thought about the reeds i know there aftermarket boyseen reeds but they do look pretty darn old. they still flex good but i really dont know what else to do to test them

yes my very first shee was a 89 an i miss that thing even tho i hat the j arm frame but hey like i said i missed mine an when i stumbled apon this one i couldnt resist. its a 1987 lol i dont have a title but the guy i got it from said he was the 2nd owner an siad it never came with a title when he got it from the org owner. did they ever come with titles back then????

id have to get a comperssion tester cause mine broke. but its a brand new topend so id hope it is good but ill have to check it again forogot to mention that. my bad lol

E2S, Banshee HQ all have your answers buddy ;)
Where did you get a 383 kit thats sounds like an odd kit.
I doubt your silencers are too small as they look aftermarket are you sure they aren't clogged or oil soaked?

383 kits are the kits I typically see alot along with 420s.

Removing the silencers will improve top end simply based on the fact you are shortened the area, but the difference shouldn't be all that much as the silencer just directs the flow farther out through the same diameter tube....nothing too technical there.

Pro Circuits have had the highest dynos on stock shee's that I have seen, but I'm not sure how well they translate into power for future mods compared to other pipes. Did you have any future modding plans for the Banshee?

the stock jugs are bored .80 over (383) from what i was tols from the machine shop thats what it would be

the pipes use to be clogged with a mouse nest. my bad but that was found like 4 months ago...

im gonna test the compression this wknd with my buddies crompression tester :) so ill find out more then

I'm currently building a 2-1 intake 2-1 exhaust shee myself , I have a motofast pipe and silencer for it , still need a 2-1 trinity intake . If you are switching back , what intake do you have ? would you sell it? anyway , 2-1 isn't junk , makes tuning a lot easier , makes trouble shooting a lot easier . I'm setting mine up for lower end power , thats where you need the power for trail and dune riding . good luck bro

.080 over is 369cc's ;)
Guys run those silencers on 535+ Banshee's without issues thats what made me think they are clogged or need re-packing.
LRD is mistaken, taking off the silencers hurts hp. They are calculated into the 'tuned length' of the system. This is why when you see drag pipes that don't have silencers, they have that long skinny section at the end where a silencer would be.
At any rate you have a problem somewhere lets see that compression test.

I haven't seen problems with the 2-1 pipe besides alot of guys go back to 2, but the 2-1 intake has guys cursing it over and over again.
It seems the jetting is what gets them and gettin the bike to idle after the install.
The one thing I always wondered is why no one uses a BIG carb for it.
I see 35mm's, sometimes 38mm but no ones ever given like a 44 or 50 a try before they get rid of it.
The 2-1 pipe sounds fricken bad to the bone though I:I

sorry guys been a lil busy latly had to go pick up an engine for my prelude today an workin on switchn parts over onto that tomarrow. sounds like im gonna be busy the next couple of weeks between get the 92 prelude running an then right after that im changin a clutch for a friend. then after that i gotta deliver my enduro to a bud who traded me his 92 tsi awd 5 speed in mint condition straight up. it needs a new head gasket so im gonna tare that engine down too. so yea as soon as i get the compression test from my bud who i have to change the clutch for im gotta test it right away an see what i can figure out. hopefully i can get it done this week yet.. thanks guys. like i said the machine shop told me it being bored 80 over was a 383 so like i said wasnt for sure cause i here a lot of bs from them lol

forgot to mention there is no packing in the silencers do to a mouse nest i had to pull out of them 4 months ago n just never got around to repacking them due to all the projects an not much money :( i try to do my best with what i got

ok so the compression test of my buds is broke to :( so im gonna have to buy a new gauge to put on mine but no biggy. so any wasy my bud an i where talking about what carbs id need when i do go back to 2 carbs like what sizes id pry need. to me i really dont know lol. i was thinkin pry 2 35mm pwk air strikers. what does everyone else think?? sorry guys i know this isnt in the right place from what this topic turned into but figured id just keep postin in this one so i dont start another thread like i was doin at first with this project lol.... im gonna try an get a video of it tomarrow to show everyone how its coming along :)
