hahaha like/\ /\ But yeh, its prolly just wear and tear, just get everything replaced as it breaks or preventative, no quad is better than the other, thats excluding polaris of can-am hahaha they dont count. just keep your chill and work away, whats going wrong?

I know the pain, but ya just have to learn a bit more about them. I'm still on a learning curve, and after last friday I wanted to smash it to pieces, You want a four stroke? wait till ya have to fix that- cost three times as much as your blasty. I have both and I know. I actallty like to "fix things" but not everytime i ride either. That should motivate you to find the real problem and fix it. I had issues from day one but still pluggin at it and WILL get it working right. I never even rode a two-stroke anything before or worked on them. I have learned alot this past week end even the different riding style you have to have from two to four strokes. Just keep posting problems but give as detailed info as you can and pics or video helps alot.

And hey guys, ease up, we all weren't born two-stroke masters! :p

that is too bad as you will not find a more simple and easy to maintain atv out there. a 2-stroke is much simpler to maintain than a 4-stroke and they both need maintenance (much more on a 4-stroke). if you step up to one of the machines you listed then you also will have more parts that will need fixed. and they will need the same basic maintenance such as chain adjustment, jetting, lube and oil change, clutch adjustment, etc.... plus you will have to make sure that your cooling system is working good and you may want to take extra coolant on long rides and/or hard rides. i would not get another blaster as you know what you have fixed on yours and you will not know what is wrong with the other one (unless you keep yours for parts). however, if you do get another quad i would suggest a trx400ex (and I am NOT a honda fan)....a newer one with reverse. the trx is as simple to maintain as a 4-stroke can be made as it is air-cooled and old tech but yet can make some decent power. they are as almost as simple to keep running as a blaster and they have a great handling full-size chassis. i have 3 blasters 2 w/ @ 100 hours and one that was raced for a few years and they have been very good to me. my friends daughter has an 03 w/ over 400 hours on it w/o ever having the top-end off. it was changed over to premix 32:1 klotz on non ethanol gas jetted rich and it has lived in the Oregon dunes for 375 of those hours. last year I gave her an fmf exhaust, timing advance plate, and k&n filter. we are seriously impressed and are waiting to see how long this blaster goes before we hear any odd sound coming from the engine (surprisingly it still has good compression). my blasters lug my 290 butt around nicely but I have to run them hard to do anything and they are still holding up fine. please do not get discouraged as we can help you to sort any issues that you may have and always remember that when you buy another quad (if it is used) you never know what you are getting- it might be golden but it could also be a lemon. sorry about the length of this response.

i agree with most of the people. if you want simple to maintain stick with a 2 stroke but just keep tryin with the blaster you will figure it out and be glad you did

well put....

Just stick with a blaster man..

well i might its just from day one i changed the trans oil and to 80 and the guy at the yamaha place said it was good then i looked later that day and saw it said 10 w 40 later filed a complaint to yamaha rick rolished < f*cking retart thats why i had a crank shaft problem cuz they fixed it the first time cuz my dad was in hospital and it fried the piston thrree times already soo yeah im just gonna put a way some money and keep the blaster <3 yamaha i just get mad and same with the dad who fixed it 3 times cuz he didnt trust yamaha but there oil sugjestions and then i showed him and he said dumb ass people lol but hopfully wen i gooo to jessup county it wont fri up the piston oh just letting all you guys know i do put all my time in to the atv still i have problems but i find out what they are .... i have to get a bearing for the clutch if any of you know what im talking about there is a ball bearing in where the clutch thing is idk how to explain but i have to get the right size and does any body know about carbs its draining gas out of the over flow thing i think its the floats sorry for the bad typing just tired but yeah plz help and ill be sure to show you guys how the blaster is running as soon as possiable but help on the carb plz

A bb will work from bb guns, a few ppl have used them and much cheaper. as for the fuel dumping out of the over flows, tap bowl with a screw driver handle. If it stops u need to clean the carb, other wise check float height is in spec.

You think the blaster is expensive to fix?

I have as much in the bottom end of my prairie rebuild as I have in my ENTIRE blasty...that's not including any of the other stuff I've done to the quad.

A blaster is about as cheap to maintain as you can get. The best thing you can do is sit down with the service manual and read it cover to cover and then go under the engine section of this forum and just start reading back. Click on posts that look interesting. There is a LOT of information here about fixing/maintaining blasters.

Then once you have a firm understanding of what's going on under those yamaha plastics, post up about your problems and let your blaster brothers help you figure out what's going on.

lol i forget who said that a couple times8-|

i think it was some creeper with a silver quad :o :o lol . like mentioned before if you maintain the blasty it will treat you good. if you have a problem dont just fix the broken part look into it and see why it broke. for example you say youve cooked your piston 3 times? uhhh obviously something is wrong like a major air leak or something. i am very anal about keeping up on my blaster, check it over before every ride and i have NEVER been towed home (*knocks on wood lol*)

The problem you will get with ANY quad is you just never know what the idiot before you did to it... You may get a gem (One we bought was) or you may get a turd (the other we bought was). With the turd quad we tore everything down to the frame, and rebuilt it back up just to get it less troublesome (Except the bottom end, but that another story to ask freek haha).

The problem with that is if you do not have the funds to go through the machine, and go through everything, and get it fixed you may have alot of issues trying to go through them one at a time.

Its frustrating yes, because when you go riding, and everytime something breaks you begin to hate your quad. Like noober said instead of just fixing a repetetive issue you really need to do a rca (root cause analysis), and find out what is causing these continuous failures instead of just repairing the issue.

If you find youself having a different issue everytime you ride you may need to spend more time on a pre-ride inspection. Learn how to look for trouble areas by researching here, and learning from others who may have had issues... Eventually you will get to the point where you will be catching things before they fail, or you can see, smell, feel an issue coming on because the ride quality will change slightly, and you will be more "tuned" into your machine.

Changing machines because you are having issues with your Blaster will not necessarily solve the issue... You may be just getting into another different bunch of issues, and starting over.

from day one i had a problem but it was the jetting then i had the oil pump go then the crank shaft so knock on would i looked over and over and read the manual about the wires and the carb but there was a page missing so im asking my brothers (you guys) what or what do you think the carb could be like the floats messed up pouring the gas right out of both tube things sorry for a 15 year old with lil experience with engines but im learning :) thanks to you guys and my father and sooo where was i ummm you think the wires by the magnetio could like control the carb or no im just wondering

I been towed a couple of times, mostly cause ran out off gas. But once was cause the motor made a funny noise and died, it made noise just turning the kicker by hand ( turned out the crank rod bearings went). But as noober said taking time to understand why the problem is there can keep you from having added head aches later. The cause and effect.
