busted a tie rod endlink today on the crappy
jumped the LTR off the full size/biggest jumps we got. I kept coming up short on the double then my buddy who races expert class in the mainland was telling me to follow him on his modded out crf450 or whatever the honda 450 dirtbike is and basically it's a set of whoops coming out of a left berm that is followed by a big single, then a whoop again and a double. so I just couldn't get enough speed it felt like but I wasn't pounding it hard enough and I couldn't really control the bike in that area enough to pound it in 3rd but did it in second and ended up bombing it LoL back tires clipped barely on my last big one, but my nuts were getting sore from slapping the seat everytime I ended up short so I called it a quits after I landed it my forearm and thumb were tired anyway lol wife caught me on vid doing the 1st jump, I never hit the double again hard as I didn't have my buddy there to show me how fast to go and none of the other guys who were there *altho they all have more experience than me, as this is my 2nd time offroading a manual bike lol* none of them had the ballz or desire to hit it like I did and make the landing on the double. I just set out to do all the jumps and get better at riding basically since all I've ever ridden manual bikes is this weekend and last weekend hitting the track and rode around the block twice with my LTR when I 1st got it and rode around yesterday on the raptor once so I've probably got a total of like MAYYbe 8hrs seat time... I rode a rec/utility quad in mexico for 3 hrs when we went on a cruise that went to cabo san lucas
so I guess total riding time ever I got like 11hrs maybe... so for me to be hitting the big jumps is probably stupid as I can barely handle the bike in the begining of 4th on a flat straight. but I feel comfortable doing the entire track in 2nd and nailing 2nd. alot of it I can do 3rd but I kept fish tailing alot in 3rd even on whoops and all our jumps have whoops in front of them except the kiddie jump which is like 1' tall double that's like 20' out of a hairpin so even when cranking out 2nd thru that entire turn I still only can get so much air off that thing.. my buddy was NAILING the burps and moving them on his crf450 and even he could only get so much speed before hitting the kiddie jump lol. overall stoked, I lost it a couple times only when trying to hit jumps in 3rd but I'm a 125 so I probably need to revalve and spring the shocks for my skinney azz and when my flexx bars get here and steering stabilizer and a few other handling goodies I should be a little better off getting into and thru whoops going straight (our whoops are also like V shaped towards eachother and go half way in and come from both sides)
had a blast, tomorrow I'll be sore. lukily one of the little gurls was riding the raptor when the tierod end busted and she was only in 1st so she didn't get hurt. I was pounding that thing thru 4th yesterday on the street with surf shorts, slippers (think mainland peeps call them flip flops) and a t shirt, wasn't smart enough to put on a helmet
could've ended SOOO badly... no more will I run around without a helmet...
I'm wearing the top/bottom and gloves matching with the white ltr, my buddy has the other white bike which is a banshee. got to ride it fun bike
it's alot lighter than my 450 and has 21s on front 20s on back and felt more cushy of a ride. think I'll throw my 20"s razrs on soon and see if that helps. but I think it's probably mostly shock...
