Gear problems

was out yesterday on the blasty with a friend who had never ridden a quad before.
so i start teaching him how to drive and all's well
then he starts f*cking about with the gear like changing them every 2 seconds trying to hit higher revs all while holding the clutch and accelerator at the same time so at this point i wave him down and throw the noob off
i jumped on the bike again and started her up ,clicked the gear shift as far down as it would go thinking it was in first and started to drive it then stalled and kept on stalling for about 10 times and cutting out
now i dont have neutral or first gear and the gear shift isnt clicking up through gears and is only doing it sometimes.

im thinking its the gear selector but im not sure what it is

check your shift drum,the keyway is probibly broke,can you get it in any other gear besides 2nd?

yeah once i get it going i can shift it right up to six but it wont shift down again unless i keep fiddling with it
