My Son he is young, and was making some bad choices lately but- landed a great Job working with marcellus shale project, He works on the flo-back side, basically the drillers (Haliburton) come in and frac the well, add sand and fluid into the shale to break it up. The sand then filters and traps the gas, and is pumped out and replaced with more fluid. His job is if the guys who are fracing use too much sand and not enough fluid they sand off the well it's called, My son's crew goes in there and back flows the sanded (clogged well) until full flow is achieved we are talking 2-3000 psi lines! He works long hours on 3 weeks -off for a week, but the pay is awesome! He brings home more than I do! :-[

Anyhow thought I would share some pics of the local site... pretty interesting

Very cool! I'm currently learning how to operate, setup, and maintain the wells. It gets very interesting once you really get into it. I enjoy it and I'm sure he will too. How old is he?

I have a friend who is a fracker. I think he's working in PA right now, I don't see him much. Seems like he works in 3 weeks on 1 week off cycles. It can be some hard work, from what he says but it pays well. I hope your son landing a good job, keeps him on the right track. Sometimes a kid seeing the difference in having and not having the extra's a good job can provide is enough to keep them motivated.

My son is 19. He isn't allowed to drive any equipment but he can work on it!

Kinda like your 18 and can serve this country but you can't have a beer! :o

His motivation is work, or live in a cardboard box!! NO FREE RIDES HERE!

They just put 2 of these things in within like a half hour of me each direction. Pretty neat stuff. He's definitely working a modern job, good for him. I:I

My buddy is working with a gas company as well, but he's on an oil rig type thing. Similar hours, definitely good money.
