Bought a 02 fixer for cheap. The bottom end was overhauled. Put a new top end on it and noticed that the front motor mount bolt was missing. Bought a new one and it only goes half way through... Something is blocking it....

My guess is that when they rebuilt the bottom end, they put one of the case alignment dowels in the wrong place.

Don't really want to crack the cases, so my question is...can I drill this out with out damaging the cases?

That sounds weird. There is not a dowel in that location. They are inside the lip of the case not where a bolt would go thru.

Have you tried putting it through from both sides and know for sure it is the alignment of the cases. If the cases are not aligned it is not good but you got to do what you got to do.If it is just a smidge you probably will not have a problem.

Can't even get a small pick through it, so it's definitely not just a misalignment of the cases. Whatever it is seems to be only about 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick and is off set to one side, which doesn't indicate an alignment dowel...weird... I guess I'll start drilling tomorrow.

the same thing happend to me today...I ended up just drilling through it...whatever is blocking it is pretty hard as it took me a while to get through it.
