Front Brakes

I put new brake pads on about a month ago and they lasted about 2 weeks then i had to adjust the little screw down by the tire and then a day later i would have to tighten the screw again until it wouldn't tighten any more. what could the problem be? thanks

Shoes you mean, right? Drums.

Well, it could be that the brake cables are all stretched out, adjust up at the handle bars too.

If none of that works, it may be that you didn't put the lever arm on in the correct spot. Take that off, move it forward, and see if they will tighten up that way.

ya i adjusted the cables and it seems to be helping. so you think the shoes were put on wrong?

IDK bout yours but mine is hard as crap to tighten up the slack with the lil screw. Make sure it's actually tightening down and not jes spinning the whole adjuster.

how can i tell if it is just spinning and not tightening down, i think that is what the problem is because when i took the old brakes off they didn't seem to worn out.

If it's spinning the cable, the cable won't last long!! It shouldn't spin the cable though.

If you look at the diagrams on bikebandit.com, what they call the "lever, camshaft," that thing may need to be rotated. I don't think you can put the shoes in wrong.

resurface the drums, my bet is that they are to ruff and are chewing up the pad

or something is slipping

What I do is put a set of vice grips on the screw and then tighten the adjuster.
