Alright so I traded my moms Honda ATC200x threewheeler + $400 for an 03 Blaster. It had some ghetto rigged front suspension that was cut and welded to let some fox shocks fit. Also the frame under the seat had been broken off and had a bar welded on that looks like crap.

I then decided to post and see if anyone had a good frame for sale locally and this guy offered me a Blaster that was missing random nuts and bolts and the silencer. I went and looked at it tonight and the engine had good compression so I bought it. I gave the guy $185 for it.

So now I plan on stripping the blue one down and painting the frame then putting the white ones engine in it. Hopefully gonna end up with two running by the end but this thread is gonna be for the one I am building for myself, the other will be a beater. I plan on picking up a good exhaust since I have a stock and dg now. Stock will get sold.

What would be a good exhaust? I plan on having the engine stock for now but eventually gonna port it and have head work done but I don't know when I will have money for that since I am gonna do a 400ex shock with works fronts hopefully.

So I need ideas on what to paint the frame/a arms. I have some black, green, red pearl, and a midnight purple pearl. I am thinking about doing a black frame with green accents on the a arms/swing arm/foot pegs.

looks like a good place to start. I would try and get the blue one running and in good condition, sell it, then use that money to build up the 03 blaster.

The blue One is missing the silencer and alot of random bolts/nuts. I plan on stripping it down and swapping my hydraulic brakes/good tires/white plastics and which ever motor seems best. The white ones frame is broken so I would rather sell it.

Wow those A-Arms look dangerous as hell.....

Sounds to me like you got a good deal on that blue blaster. But that 03 is in real sh*tty condition and I probably wouldn't have payed more than $350 for it.

A good exhaust for a stock stroke, standard bore, and ported top end would probably be a Toomey. As for color scheme, its all personal preference dude. Do what you want! Can't wait to see what you do with both of them!

dude, i sure hope that 200x was in very, very poor condition for you to trade it for that 03 heap + $400 ???
(broken frame/hacked a-arms ect.)
good luck with the build ...keep the pics coming of your progress

The a arms don't look as bad in person and over all that bike is actually really clean its just dirty in pictures...the frame is broken at the top under the seat from wheelies. The seat doesn't latch properly cause of it. I could have welded it up but I decided I would rather pick up a new frame and build one from the ground up for me and build a beater for my dad/loaner.

I am thinking midnight purple pearl with a ton of clear on the frame with white plastics.

I plan on picking up a toomey, 400ex rear, works shocks, and a arms once I get money for them.

you plan on moving the rear brake master mount onto the new frame before painting ????

there is also differences in the electronics mounts under the hood, and front plastic mounts on the pre 03 frame

check them all out and do necessary swapping before paint to ensure all your 03+ stuff will bolt on

rear brake master mount,
front hood mounts, i believe all 3 of them
and the electronics mounts under the hood where different when i put all my 01 stuff onto an 06 frame, but i was cutting stuff off, you'll be adding them
prolly possible to cut them off the 03 frame and weld them onto the older frame ???

all hardware mounts will be the same ...motor/swinger/pegs, ect. ect.

get the plastics all pulled off and you'll clearly see the hood and electronics differences,
and then just the rear master mount, you'll need the 03 pedal and peg, get the pedal hooked to the master, bolted to the cut off mount, swing it into place, tack weld, check operation and weld it, no biggie

Looks like a fun build, remember that you will need to weld mounts on the older frame for the rear master cylinder to keep hydros.

Also, you still have those fox shocks? They are Polaris Predator 500 shocks. If you could measure the length of the spring on on for me, it would be much appreciated.

Ben

Spring is exactly 12 inches long

Alright so I am trying to plan this build out. I plan on getting a toomey pipe kit, KOR head work, and KOR porting. Thats pretty much it as far as engine work/performance mods.

Does this sound good? Any downside to doing the cylinder porting and then doing the head work later down the road when I get money?

And before anyone tells me to do suspension first, I am getting a 400ex rear for it.

porting and pipe, then head work down the road along with a bigger carb will be fine.
34mm is my preference for this type of setup

You're saying I could do the pipe and port now then save up some money and do the head work and carb together? I thought that a smaller carb would be better for trails/more low end?

By smaller I mean about a 30mm or so.

yes, port and pipe now
head mod and carb later
you'll see me say "bigger carbs/less low end" when guys start taking drag advice and going to 36mm+ on a trail quad
34mm is my weapon of choice on a non stroked/trail ported quad
