Is it worth my time to change to the 4 degree advance timing key on the flywheel. If i do that do i need to make any other modifications to make it work.

Far better to do the timing mod, then you can choose the amount of advance.
No other changes required, other than to keep an ear on detonation if you use a low octane fuel.
