hi all Ive ben serching for my project atv for a while now and finally found it it is a 2005 blaster i picked up for 600 bucks I got it home after checking it out it shifts through all gears no cracks in frame a little rust plastics are great cluch felt good tires good but rounded out so they touch parts of plastics does not run guy claimed he knew nothing about atvs or how to work on them and Ive ben learnig a little bit bearings all feel good no lose feel in tires or swing arms the chain seams super tight though compard to my bike the moter turns over real good chheccted for spark and changed the plug the old one looked like it was origanal lots of rusty hard where but got plastics off after I cleaned it
picked it up muddy. any way checked compretion next couse spark plug was sparking and not getting wet or firing 5 psi theres the problem tor it down and found that rings wore down till piston rubbed cylender wall so my

first question is when i get it bored do i need to get the cylender wall plated too?

second question do I need to wash the dust out of the crank case from where cylinder wall and piston rubed and mad dust or will it naturally pump out as it runs since it goes from case to chamber and exhosts it?

I will be posting plenty of pictures and data with this build and plan to go full on first I want it to run for summer so I can feel the stockish stuff for comparason to other things I do to it after I get a little ride time on it I will tear it all down and make it like new but better gussets and powder coat bottom and top end and other things after imput advice is welcome

welcome bro !!!!!

blasty cylinders are not plated, just bore to the next size as needed and replace piston and rings
a good shop will tell you what size piston to buy then bore the cylinder to it's needed size, if they don't ask to have the piston there while boring ...run away,
then call that number in my sig pic

no need to flush the bottom cases unless you shattered a piston, any cylinder wear has already been exhausted

and try getting a tinypic.com or photobucket.com account, upload the pics to there, open the pic and find the IMG. code on that page, copy and paste that code into your post here and the pic will magically appear

awk08 thank you I will tri posting pictures tonight when I get home. tommarow I will run up to the machine shop but I dont think thay have the pistons how ever nether does yamaha or honda I was thinking about buyong a pro x i red reviews and every one like them exepet one guy who dident break it in he just slaped it in and raced and lost his comprestion im always told you have to break em in I dont know what the prosses is and is this true and if so what is the prosess
 
Dude, you got a good deal. 600 dollars for a 2005 blaster is about a grand less then they usually go for around here.

is port and polish spacific to other stuff like the pipe and carb or is ther a standered does it make that big a diference

any advice on panting a rusty pipe it is a dgthat came on it
 
also I will post pics of the oil injection bottle I was going to get a kit eventuly to take it off and just premix like a race bike but i notice that the hose was cut off and a screw was put in it the gas I haven relly got to see but doesent look or smell like pre mix which could be the couse of the rings burning up but can that mean i should check any thing else the crank move god with no grinding or wable so i asume it is good figured id ask anyway also can the cut of methed be bad on anything since wires are still hooked up and I have know idea were he hose went to so i dont knoe wether the hole is pluged or of its sucking in dust and dubrie water or whatever

should I reatach hose or dismantel it all together?
 
there are oil injection block off kits on ebay, get rid of the oil injection. premix ur oil, its safer and u can mix to whateber u want 32:1 or 50:1.

The DG is giving you almost no power gain. You'll be better off buying a new brand. People here like Toomey and Power Pros (DynoPort, Factory Seven, few others). They will give you great gains. Also good brands are FMF and Pro Circuit. The DG is basically a stock pipe with some chrome and a different sound. :(

Now, if you really want to restore it, you can use sand paper or wire brush to get the rust off. Then use steel wool to get a chrome finish. If you want to paint it, use HIGH TEMPERATURE paint.

For information on a port and polish, you should call an engine builder. Most people here will recommend Ken Oconnor Racing. He does great work. Other builders with good reputation here are Flotek and Wildcard Racing. I'd suggest calling all three and talking to them, and find who you like best. You will not regret the money spent on a port and polish job! I:I

exohust aint a big deal i was just gonna make it non rusty i plan to replace later

But the important question is so much about an oil block off kit its mor about how they did it that way tomarrow when I get the head done and ne piston I know if I can start it I was going to go premix any way but I wasent shere if the other end motor side could suck stuff up since i dont know where its at they cut the hose and put a screw in it i dont thin they premixed there last batch ether every thing seems ok just not oily but the crank moves freely with no play so until i save a little up for the major work im getting it running and fixing odds and ends first up make it run!!! so I know how it feels when i first got it and winter ill tare it all down new bottom new top again i gusset and powder coat frame after powder coat full skid pan arms,main body,swing arm ill wait to powder coat everthing but the main frame unless i swap out parts befor i get to that point running first also i would like to polish my motor shiny alumunum and anadized accents but that is all down the road

where is the oil check bolt i found the drain but what about the check bolt and is there a oil filter or is this built like a 2 stroke mx bike

got it out the truck notice the mudd he dident even bother to wash it to sell it which tells me his maitanence scedule but it was a good deal non the less

Looks like u got a real good deal bro, i like the bumper.

Just wire brush the hell out of the pipe if your going to paint it dont leave any rust.
 
You got one of the best deals ive seen. Ive bought a bunch of blasters to part out, i can tell you for sure that thing has low hours. It has none of the typical wear on the paint. ive yet to find a deal like that none of mine have looked that good. Hopefully you dont find any big problems in the engine.

And be careful with the power washer, water can get into bearing seals but not out.

Back to the oil injection issue this is how it came with the screw in it but where dit the hose go to from there and will this way couse problems?

I assume he never cleaned the filter couse i used and impact driver to get the screws out of the box and the filter screw was through the hole in the filter so he mitaswell throught the filter away couse it did nothing or very little

my 2 stroke mx bike has a oil check bolt so you know if theres enough tranny where is it or how do i make shur there is enough oil?

this is where the tire rubs but i now know why the plastic is ziptide to the peg and the pin om bottom broke off so it can touch the tire

he probably took the oil injection off and mixed the gas and was just to lazy to unscrew 3 screws for the oil tank...?
 
i know how to fill it i want to know how to check it the trany hell i dont even know if there is oil in it ill know when i pull the drain plug but how do u check itthe tranny

oil injection i aint worried about the tank in back im worried about wherever that hose whit the screw in it use to go and conect to wheres that is there a sucktion there that can suck up debrie i dont know if its pluged or wide open couse i dont know where its at
