Hey all, i am a new user here and i just bought a Blaster 1996 250 2 stroke, the atv is not in a good shape.

first, when i press the clutch handle and put to first gear the atv is driving, when i release the clutch it goes normal, it feels like the clutch doesn't separate the plates enough.

Second, the kick lever doesn't go up by it self, i need to bring it back up.

Third, how do i know if the chain needs to be replaced?

Now, i would take it to a garage but there are none in my area, so i come here for advice.
oh and were i can order parts for the atv except for Ebay?

sorry for my bad english, this is not my main language. :(

p.s: a picture. :)

Blasters are 200's not 250's . Ebay is going to be your best friend for parts , unless you have a local power sports shop you can purchase parts from . Your Clutch cable may be stretched and needs replacement , I would suggest spending the 30 bucks and buying a brand new clutch lever from MSR ( available on ebay ) because it offers a adjustment on it so getting the clutch feel is easy . Your clutch may be wasted , so that may need replacement . How much did you pay for the blaster? what country are you from ? and welcome to the site . Post up pictures of the beast so we can give it the once over .

I will try to loosen the clutch a bit, if it doesn't help, what should i look next?
the stores around here are so expensive that i rather try to build parts on my own then buying from them ;)

i have posted a picture in the end of the first post, just press it.

i am from Israel, i have bought the atv for approx 1300-1500$.

It's possible that the kick starter return spring is broken or has slipped out of its hole. The spring is wrapped around the kicker assembly under the clutch cover. You will probably have to pull the clutch cover off just to see what's going on. Good news is, the clutch adjustment procedure needs to be done under that cover as well so you're really killing two birds with one stone.

hey, i have opened the clutch and tried to adjust the clutch, after i closed it was a little better, but after a few rounds i couldn't shift any more, not up and not down it was stuck in neutral, what do i do now? :(
i am really stuck and dont know what to do please advice me :(:(:(
p.s i have posted pictures of the clutch, please tell me if he is done.

I can tell from the first pic you do not have the pressure plate lined up correctly, unless you are holding the clutch lever in when you took it. There is a little round circle scribed inj the clutch plate and the inner basket those have to be lined up! Simple fix, remove the five bolts pull the pressure plate of and align the circles, bolt it back up, do the necessary adjustments and you should be good.

first of all, thanks for the fast respond.
i think its like this because i have screwed the adjuster out, but i will check it any way.
btw, how do i know how do adjust the screw, how much in or out should it be?
what do you think about the basket, is it ok or its done?

That basket looks pretty beat.
How to do proper adjustment- (Ya have to remove the cable first! And remember Fiber plate goes in first then steel, then fiber then steel... until all are in you should end up with a fiber plate in last!)

1. loosen the outer center nut on the pressure plate almost all the way off
2. hold the clutch lever (the part that the cable hooks onto in the motor) and gently push it towards the front of your bike to relieve the spring tension
3. Now with a small phillips turn the center shaft in which ever direction it takes to align the pointer marks up as you are applying a little pressure to lever shouldn't take many turns you will feel it move. [usually clockwise] Pic of arrow on caseVV (the point on the clutch shaft should point to this arrow on the case)

4. When it is aligned, let the lever go it will go off the arrow due to spring tension that's ok. Keep your screw driver on there and take your wrench 10mm and tighten the center nut down snug while holding the center rod tight so it doesn't move. (I used blue locktight on threads also)
5. Now take a socket and tighten it down good but becareful you dont overtighten it and snap it just a good snug tight is perfect. 5 ft lbs is what the manual says.
6. Put the cover back on, make sure your spring for the kick gear is in the hole when you do this or you'll be replacing some more parts down the road (experience talking here!).
7. attach the cable back up and adjust that just until you feel the springs on the pressure plate start to hit, then back off 1/8 turn and try that, ya may need to play with the adjustment on the handle bar lever as it warms up.

If you cannot reach any step a couple things to look at are, Missing ball bearing or two ball bearings accidentally put in, bad clutch lever shaft, incorrect number of plates or incorrect pressure plate placement (DOTS ALIGNED).

i did what you said, and its much better, but now i have a new problem.
when i ride and stop, there is oil dripping everywhere, i just cant see from were, when the atv is parked(for a day or a few hours) there are no oil dripping, only when i ride, what could be the problem?

i have cleaned it very good, but when i stand it is not dripping, only after i drive few minutes it happens, and there is oil all over the crank case, i have checked all the bolts and i have even sealed the crank case with red silicon, but it still drips.

by the way, i have seen that the fuel oil mixture is 32:1, does it mean 32milliliter on 1 litter? is it possible? on 10 litter i need to put 320 milliliter? almost half a bottle of oil?

yes i have seen this, but i am asking if i understood right.
32milliliter on 1 litter; on 10 litter i need to put 320 milliliter; almost half a bottle of oil?
