brought my 02 into the shop because it wouldn't stay running. i rebuilt the carb and then i had no spark, which was a new development. after some digging, i took the magneto off and cleaned it up because it had some corrosion, and it fired right up. so now i've got another issue. haven't played with it in a while. when i get it to run, it's either at what sounds like a little over half throttle, or it won't idle idle at all. backfiring and popping alot too. but it's popping out of the pipe, not the intake. i think that i'm gonna put in a jet kit since i'm going to have to take it all back apart. i'm open to ideas too. lol. still trying to find aftermarket parts too.

what is your jetting at now and what mods are done to the bike.....could be a sheard key on the flywheel as well
Check that key!! You presumably had the igntion rotor (flywheel) off while cleaning up the stator plate, and the key could easily have fallen out of its groove in the crankshaft. If the flywheel is not properly reinstalled on the crankshaft, the engine will run out-of-time and backfire/pop badly.
