anyone ever cut and extend their steering stem? I was thinking about cutting it and welding in a 2-3" spacer. I've extended , and widened the blaster a ton now , and it feels ( and looks ) like a bigger quad now , but the stock bar height is in need of some adjustment .

I used to take warrior/banshee steering stems and turn the end down to fit in a blaster. Ends up being +2 and change. I have a warrior stem in my blaster at the moment

you have to do a couple things, scribe a STRAIGHT line down the center of it so you can get it straight after you cut it. Then find some tubing that fits inside snuggly. than cut a piece of tubing the same size as the stem and put a good bevel on each end. insert and tack weld the inner piece (it should stick in 3 or 4 inchs on each end), slide the spacer you made over that then the other end of the stem. check alignment with you scribe mark, tack weld, double check alignment then weld it getting penetration of the stem, spacer and sleeve. this is why you made the bevels.

the inner sleeve could be welded by drilling a hole through the stem in 2 spots 1 above and 1 below the spacer that would allow penetration to the inner sleeve , then the ends of the stem beveled and the spacer beveled and welded should do it. just need to find the right size tubing , that could be the biggest challenge .
