Exhaust snapped off?

can an exhaust be snapped off just by wear and tear? My friend was driving my quad and he snapped my exhaust off(the bolt is still on to hold the exhaust) but its snapped further up the bolt where the(STOCK WELDS) are. My question is did my friend hit something or did it snap off?

It could snap by itself, if it had rust it could have been corroded... If it was stock pipe, get new one I:I

It is possible that the break was caused by metal fatigue, but I would find it hard to swallow if it just snapped off.

Are there any tell tale signs of impact?

If you cannot find any points of impact then it seems like it just fell off.
