I have an 89 Blaster and i was riding at Badlands IN, I rode all day and it ran just fine, but i stopped and put a new plug in it for the last two hours of riding. After i put it in, it started right up and idled fine but when i put it in gear and took off, it started sputtring and almost died, i pulled the clutch and then the rpms went right up to normal. I tried multiple times with the same results until i turned it off but it would not start up again. I tried changing the plug but it didnt help.

the new plug might be cracked. drop another fresh one in their. sputtering is usualy a bad spark. it may have spark but it might be sh*ty.

btw paulie, oh my god i lol'd at your sig. that pipe looks BEAST.

check your air filter happend to me last weekend. It was working fine I was cruisin down my buddies dirt road and she lost power and spuderd.it only ran in the bottom of the power band went to get a plug from under the seat and noticed my air filter was filthy cleaned it and it started right up

I was having the same problems my local shop told me to take off the silencer and see how that goes. I took mine off and it ran perfect. My silencer was clogged so we ordered new insides and they are repacking it tomorrow.

your the second guy today with this supttering problem. 98blaster may be on to something with the silencer but, like was said above if its running fine and then you change the plug and it wont run all of a sudden i would say more than likely its not the silencer.

Why aren't you re-packing it? I find it hard to believe an oil soaked silencer really caused your problem. I've been wrong before though.

wouldnt the silencer have to be almost completely closed shut with build up to really cause a sputtering problem? the only reason i ask is becuse i wheelied to far back one day, and the tip of the silencer filled up with dirt, packed solid, but i didnt relize so i flipped it back upright and started it, but sputterd like hell bad bad bad, when i cleaned it out, i got a little hole started, and then i started the bike to blow out anything inside. but even with a little pen sized hole it ran normal while i was cleaning it out,

I agree freek only cause one time my main jet ratteled out an I burnt 5 gallons before I figured it out.
At that point you could littlerly pour straight oil out my silencer.
I fixt my main but left the silencer. No problems jes a lil louder :)

HA yeak it was rediculas. Smoke everywhere, oil pour'in out the pipe, and the tank suckin dry real fast :) Who the hell expects the main to fall out????
