So my blaster project is one problem after the other. at first I couldnt get it to spark, now that I have a spark, i went to slowly kick start it and the lever will not budge. i put all my weight on it and still nothing. the guy I bought it from says he just had it rebuilt put maybe 8-10 hours on it and then let it sit. and i didnt have it running so I dont know if the piston is shot. what could it be?

sounds like your in for a rebuild if the kicker wont even budge, and even i he "rebuilt" it he probally didint do anything right...

Before you tear too much apart, take the flywheel cover off and see if you can rotate the flywheel in either direction. Kick starters have been known to jam, and its possible that the engine is not locked up at all, but rather the kicker is stuck.

Also, even if the flywheel won't turn, take it off with a puller and see what the stator plate looks like. Again, you may have a foreign object jammed behind the flywheel or a broken magnet, which would lock the engine up.

so I took the motor apart, pulled out the clutch basket just to see if there was a problem somewhere in there, and I didnt see anything wrong, so i put it back together and now my clutch is very loose and when i pull the lever it barely moves the clutch arm. did i put the clucth basket back in wrong?

there was nothing with the kick starter or anything stuck in the crank case, but i havent tore apart the head yet to look at the piston

before you go tearing it completely down you can check the cylender throught the exhaust port if if your still rebuilding an your reed cage is off through there

well the piston checked out ok, so I took the cylinder off, to find a bunch of metal shavings inside. the piston and rings were fine, looked brand new. but i noticed the crank is very loose and wobbles, up & down, and side to side. so im thinking this is because the bearing in the crank is shot. from what I can see without taking it completely apart.

Sounds like you hit the nail on the head! Time for a closer look, and probably new crankshaft bearings.

Sorry to say but this sounds like a classic example of a piston skirt failure and a rebuild without splitting the cases and getting all the debris out of the crankcase.

Unfortunatly you are up for a full rebuild, rod bearing, crank bearing, wrist pin, and main crank bearings and seals.

You may get away with the piston and bore but you may need new rings and a barrel hone.
