i have a 2002 yamaha blaster and i have a weird problem, the bike wont idle and i can hold the throttle wide open and she spits and sputters, then shuts off, i took the head and cylinder off and every thing looks good, i think it might be the carb. any sugestions?

yea i agree with stroker mine wouldnt run for sh*t or it could be ur reeds that also did it for me

Its a sort of revlimiter type thing, i dont know exactly what it is. but i do know that they are prone to failure, in which case making your blaster run like sh*t or not run at all.

sounds like a jetting issue. weird that she ran before now though.....check your airbox and filter, if there's something constricting airflow, that'll run you rich.
if that's ok, then try to turn out your air screw about 1 turn. this will lean out your mix at idle. also, you might have to increase your idle speed.
once she idles, check the plug to tell if you need to lean out more. then check the plug at full throttle. this will tell you the condition of your main circuit.
if that's good then pull the carb and check everything out.

Same Problem

I AM HAVING THE SAME ISSUE! I already removed the TORS using the DIY thread, nothing changed. i just had the top end rebuilt at a shop, it fires right up, but sputters and slowly dies. it wont idle unless im giving it gas. i then check my plug and it is soaked (brand new plug). it's seems to be flooding itself. i have already thoroughly cleaned the carb about 5 times. the main jet is #230.

i just got thisblaster the other day, it is missing the cage & air filter under the seat. i am thinking this is letting in too much air, but even when placing my hand over the intake hole while its running, it made no change.

any ideas? p.s. the reeds are brand new installed by the machine shop also
