engine problems

So this weekend we went to out cabin and I was messing around in a swamp in 1st gear barley on the throttle and I am getting a knock sound coming from the engine. Hmmmmmmmm what could it be let me know. Oh ya it stayed when I would rev it up.

Knocking is more than likely piston slap.

could be that.. mine makes one to but it has been doing it since day 1 after my rebuild.. how long has it been since your rebuild?

Don't know I am the third owner; it only makes the knock in first gear.

The gas freshly bought and marathon and it was 93 octane with some marvals mystery oil in it.

a leaking head gasket will make a poping/knocking noise.

I drove it today a few times around the yard and it didn't do it so if it does it again I guess I will just have to tear the motor down.
