I have a few questions about my blaster to get it ready for trail riding.

What gearing is best for trail riding?
How can I keep my engine cool?
Will the FMF fatty pipe work for trail riding?

fmf is a great pipe. a taller tire would help for ground clearance but would take away from bottom end. 14/40 gearing would take away from the bottom end and i wouldnt do that unless you have open trails.

i agree, i tried 14/40 gearing and hated it, sure the extra 10+ mph on top was great, but the extra effort to pull the front end to skip logs/rocks/ruts sucked
back to 13/40 for me, on these tight trails here.
front tires in the air........ on demand !!!!!!

search for "plug chops" read and learn how to do them, the only way to jet properly for all but the best trained technicians

fmf fatty is a great trail pipe...usually 270-280 jet

i think im gonna take both 13 and 14 tooth gears with me on the trip. i can switch at night if necessary. also, im riding with a guy that has a utility quad so im sure he'll be carrying gas cans with him. does anybody think that the oil pump block off is worth the work so that i dont have to carry around oil bottles?

A full oil resi will last you a LONG time, if you are not modded out you're fine for now. Clean the area and fill it after each ride (day). Also clean your air filter, clean, oil, adjust chain, lube cables, check brakes, grease suspension, check tire pressure, if you haven't changed trans oil lately, do it before your trip.
