Hey guys I am brand new to the forum, and I just picked up a 2000 Blaster last night off a buddy of mine. I had an 88 Blaster back when I was in High School and it was fun back then. But now I am older and looking for a bit more performance. The bike needs a new top end. I will be rebuilding with a stock sized piston, but I want to open the exhaust and intake ports up. And put a better performing carb on it. Can someone help me out with this topic. I mostly ride logging roads and trails. We also ride the lake up here once they freeze over. Just looking for a good engine/carb set up for that type of riding. Any help would be awesome! Thanks.

I wouldn't go any larger than a 30mm carb on a stock bore and stroke. oko makes one for a good price. porting i wouldn't do too much unless you know what you are doing. If you are looking for a good machinist contact ken oconnor. kenoconnorracing.com has all his prices listed. he is a really good dude. you really need an aftermarket pipe if you want more power. if you want more top end get a toomey or factory 7 pipe. fmf for low end grunt. you will get a lot more power from a carb and pipe than a carb and port. stock exhaust won't let it flow

There is an excellent machinest/mechanic that works with my dad who will be doing the port job. I wouldn't attempt this job on my own. I will be running an FMF pipe/silencer. So I will just need to know what to open the intake and exhaust ports up to, and a decent carb to run with my set up. Thanks!
