Is that PC 3500? Also, a while back there was a member sporting a gold cyl head, does anyone recall what it was? Paint, PC, or anodizing?

the gold was a high temp paint, i remember it. this is pc, he has a build thread for his daughter in full rebuilds

Thanks for the compliments guys. This engine was the first one I've done. I need to get a hold of some more engines to try out different colors and techniques. Hopefully I can make the next one look even better.

Could do almost any high heat color you like on head/jug then paint edge of fins contrast color. Modelers (small) brush, sprau small amount into corner of cap, paint, repet. Seems to me one of the auto makers used a maroon color back in the 60s, Mercury ? Reason I suggest this way is you don't want to build the paint up to thick, would hurt heat transfer. If you notice stock jugs have very thin paint.

Those look like a very good possiblity. Anyone familiar with the brand or ordering from this site?

And I didnt see any maroon colors in the VHT.....

Was this powder coated then sanded back for polishing the fins? Looks very nice!

The base coat is a chrome powder coat. The top coat is a translucent pink. The pink is removed from the fin tips before being baked so what you see on the tips is the chrome basecoat. You could do the same with polished fins and a solid color 1 coat powder.

If you went with polishing the fins and a solid 1 coat color you would probably want to PC clear the whole thing otherwise the polished aluminum would dull really quick once you started taking it in the dirt or sand

i did the powder coating myself.
the engine isnt together yet. i just PC'd it this past weekend and the jug is currently at the machine shop getting a bore.

A special gun yea. Charges the powder with hi voltage so it sticks to the part

Is it a expensive set up? Im about to do a lot of painting (frame, engine, and a lot more parts) and would like to PC my parts instead of using auto paint. But I dont have any of the equipment.

Looks like I still need a oven tho. And I cant find a oven for a decent price that I can fit a frame in

yea you can buy that but its a real pain in the ass. if you are gona start out powder coating you better not start with stuff that you want to look nice. it took me years to get to where i am now. if you want to save time and hastle on the stuff you want to look good send them to me. ill make sure to take care of you.

and you have to have an oven big enough to fit all the parts that you are coating. and i most definitely would NOT recommend using the oven you cook food in!

MI. I currently don't have an oven big enough to do a frame. I should have one by the summer though. I can do just about everything though
