Engine break in

Ok so does that sound good tho? 4-5 heat cycles, and a practice day at the track?

Do lots of practice at no more than 3/4 throttle..

Break in is not so much about speed, it is about throttle opening, and about how the rings are forced out into a fresh cross hatching.

Too much pressure in the combustion chamber, forcing the rings harder toward the cylinder may make them bind. which can cause them to give the ring lands a hard time, and widen the grooves.

Remember the locating pins on your old piston, sloppy ring grooves can cause that.

You should just about get 2 tanks through in practice.

I thought heat cycles were part of retorqueing the bolts?Ride till it heats up then turn it off let cool then check the bolts after heat expansion of the head.

Heat cycles are done without riding, done at a standstill, varing the throttle opening until operating temp is achieved, then let cool for 30 mins.

No riding until at least 3 heat cycles, followed by a re-tension of head and jug bolts.

Then ride 2 tanks of gas at no more than 3/4 throttle.

Q10 is already smart enough to know that!I:II:II:I
