After I put new head and base gaskets in my blaster began to bog out at higher rmps and 5th and 6th gear especially. Is this probably cause of jetting issues. I pulled the spark plug and posted a pic of it below. It was a new plug after I put the gaskets in. It seems to me it is running very rich. Would rejetting solve my problem. If so to check the jets do I remove the carb and the 4 bolts on the bottom of carb? The bike is all stock except for fmf pipe and silencer and clamp on air filter. Any help would be very very appreciated. Thanks again.

Re: engine bogging/ jetting issues?

Yes you need to take the carb off and look to see what main jet is in there,it looks to be lean from what i can make out by the picture,is it a gray shad thats what seems to look like by the picture.

yeah sorry pic is a little blurry but no the plug is really dark almost black around the outside.

just pull the bottom off the carb with the 4 screws and it the jet in the middle looks like a hex thats your main jet it will have a # on it i would post that. and thats good better to have tomuch then not enought gas. also what is your needle set at it should be right in the middle too. the main with pipe and filter and stock carb should be in the range of a 230-250ish i would say

blaster still has oil injector on it and using premium gas block off kit is the next thing on my list

u have to rmove the top off the carb then u have o un hook the cable from the slide with the needle then theres two little screws u will take out them the needle will slide out from the top and then theres four slits for a little clip that sits on there should be in the middile on most bikes i would just check the main jet size first takes like 5 min for me to check tops.

thanks for the help again speedracinshift really appreciate it. about to go remove the carb and check the jetting right now.

just keep me posted with what size main and i can help i with the needle if need be. if your main seems close then i would adjust the needle the needles for fine tuneing when your close

alrite the current jet is 240 would getting a higer jet solve the problem? The thing that confuses me is before i took apart the top end to fix gaskets the bike ran fine and never bogged down and had the same jetting.
