OK, im gettin my dyno jet kit in the mail today. from reading threads size matters as far as valves and etc. im a NOOB so i need sum opinions. I have a fatty full FMF, vforce2, k&n air filter no lid, i guess stock carb. idk the numbers to my jets that i have now it mustve been re-jetted to match the mods i have from previous owner but i guess the dyno jet kit comes with a bunch of jets? i live near a city so elevation is normal but a bit chilly. which jetting is good for my quad? i heard doing a plug chop is best to determine but idk how to do that and not to mention i dont have any extra plugs

with your mods, in these cold temps, i'd prolly start at the "too large" 300 main, and work down till it feels right, not going below a 270, < which most guys running a similar set-yp claim works for that pipe/filter ect.

heres the deal though........learn to do plug chops, and buy plugs, or............
buy pistons !!!!!!!

awk, the dynojet kit numbers really dont match that well with the mikuni numbers.
i dont think dynojet bases their numbering of jets of the flow rate but rather the size.
mikuni and keihin base their numbering of flow rate.

i located a thread about how to do the chop test last week but i seem to cant find it now. seems easy enough.. if u guys know the link plz help a poor nOoB! lol

but the dyno jet wouldnt be a good idea for my quad? especially since im a NOOB o_O? it WOULD increase power. right? thats the only reason y i bought it. or did i just blow $48

you can still use the dynojet kit for jetting. you will just be using different numbers than people using mikuni jets.
it really doesn't "increase power." yes you will notice a power increase when you get your jetting correct but jetting your carb is important to keep it from blowing up.

yikes.. sheesh so how am i gonna know if i jet it right?? that plug chop test? i already have the carb off and kit should be in the mail any minute now and i REAALLY dont wanna fry my piston i bought this baby last week and dropped alot of $ in it already. what do u recommend? should i jet to what AWK08 said? im already regretting buyig the kit now :-/

/\/\/\/\ well then, that dynoshit jet kit shoulda stayed on the shelf at the parts store !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

plug chop is:i run it at full speed on.. 2nd? while on full rpm i kill the engine and let it roll even in gear til a dead stop right? then check the plug for its coloring? if its dark then its too lean? should be light brown?

1) you need to first make sure your carb is clean. also your float is at the correct level.
2) get a bunch of new plugs, like 10.
3) start your blaster up and warm it up with the old plug.
4) once warm turn it off and swap in a new plug.
5) start back up and turn it through the gears. in 6th gear, hold it wide open for like 20-30 seconds.
6) right after the 30 seconds, shut the quad off and pull in the clutch. and stop.
7) take the plug out and put in the old one and ride back to your garage.
8) look at the new plug and do the chop.
9) you want the plug to be a chocolate brown. black is rich, white is lean.
10) repeat the step until you get the chocolate brown.
11) once you have the jetting good at full throttle, repeat the steps again but only go 3/4, 1/2, and 1/4 throttle to check the jetting at the different throttle ranges.

read this carb tuning
it will tell you how you need to change to affect the jetting at the different throttle positions.

first off, jetting is not a single source of power, like just putting in a bigger jet will not give you more power, actually the opposite,
jetting is for matching the carbs fuel mixture to the other modifications you've made to the intake/exhaust of the motor

i'd say unless you just added an exhaust, filter, reeds, took the lid off the airbox ect. ect......, let them jets sit on the shelf till you do add mods, and only after you fully understand plug chops, and reading the smoke ring down inside the plug, not just the color of the porcelain tip, you'll rarely see color there after only one "WOT" pass
and for the record, darker is richer, lighter is leaner

10 plugs?!?! damn thats gonna be MAD expensive! isnt it like 5 a piece? man this is confusing. (NOOBIE.) i check for color at the long part or the short part at the bottom of the screw? i think i got it but step 11? confused. i got the kit and instructions says i should run 360 since i have the aftermarket pipe and airfilter/no lid. or is that too rich? i really cant afford to blow 50 in plugs like nothing honestly

so i installed the dynojet kit and ran with the 350 main jet. my conclusion... i blew $ once again on nothing to increase my power. im sure i did everything right even spoke to DYNOJET tech man. suggested i run with 350 because i have the FMF TURBO CORE2 and low elevation i got the needle set to 3. so i take her for a spin and she bogs when i try to open it up. hmm... i guess obviously i DID do something wrong. also got the AF at 2 turns. SMH. i might try a smaller jet or put back in my 230 jet and call it a day and post the jetkit on craigslist

yea thats what i figured. the kit came with: 200, 210,220, 340, 350, 360. i had in 230 b4 the dyno. the only lowest jet there is is the 340. the closest 1 i have below that was the one i already had in (230) so, i guess i try the 340 if that doesnt work i HAVE to put back in my 230 right?cant go below that? that would ruin my motor correct? (with the mods i have)
