I am new to the forum, just wondering if the only thing to worry about when buying shocks is the length so they will fit without any modification? What length should i be looking at? and any adjustable shock could be adjusted for my weight? sorry for the dumb questions.
Thanks

for the front- look for a good set of used works shocks, you are looking for about a 14.5 inch shock, you can also swap to banshee shocks too which is somewhat of an improvement

for the rear- find yourself a 400ex or trx250r rear shock, then get a bushing kit from kenoconnorracing.com and u will love the improvement

Welcome to the forum! ... Buncha variables in suspension but all the info you need is somewhere on this site. Things to have in mind... What's your budget? ... What kinda riding do you do? ... Your weight is important cuz weight is a spring thing. Different shocks are adjustable to a different degree. Most all shocks should have some preload adjustment. Some better shocks have compression & rebound adjustment. My older works shocks need to be sent back to Works to be resprung & valved for different a weight rider. Great shocks but sometimes a pain. Banshee fronts are a good cheap improvement for recreational riding. I'm playing with a set of YZF450 front shocks that I really like cuz of the compression/rebound adjustment but they won't just bolt up without mods or adaptors. The rear 400ex/250r upgrade is good. Beyond these basics there is some really nice performance stuff depending on what your wallet can handle. Guess you get my drift by now ... LOL ... Lotsa options & possibilities ... use the search button and you'll find all the answers ya need. Of course we all got shock opinions so I'm sure any questions ya got will be answered. Good luck :)

well I wanna keep it as cheap as possible. I found a 01 raptor for $1800 obo so I was thinking about that or a 250R, but i just rebuilt my blaster, the 01 raptors have known clutch problems and i don't wanna pre mix fuel... so i was gonna gear up the blaster 1 or 2 teeth in the front, and get new rear tires and cheap shocks if i could find some... right now i have a B1 pipe, 20 over wisco piston and boysen reeds. any other suggestions are welcome
Thanks

01 raptors had tranny problems. the one-way clutch would also go out. never get an 01 raptor, they are POS.

As always, it's a matter of how cheap do you wanna be? These are nice for new shocks.
Yamaha Blaster front 14.5 in. shocks w Rez 211~250 mx - eBay (item 330378661297 end time Dec-13-10 14:51:51 PST)

You can prob pickup banshee shocks for around 40.

I was gonna try to stay under the 300 mark which i know will probably be hard. would the banshee shocks show much of an improvment for me, I'm only like 130 lbs and ride trails and fireroads..?

Also what do you think about these wheels? it says they're 24 in, isn't that huge? "Two wheels are 14x8 and two wheels are 14x6. All bolt patterns are 4x100. Two of the tires are 24x10.00-14 and two of the tires are 24x8.00-14." the guy said he bought them for his blaster but it blew up before he couls put them on.
