Like title says. Dt200 swap or a 240 kit. What would you rather have?

What would be better though, The +6 in a ported dt or in a 240? I would think it would be dependent on what 240 kit. A 240ct is superior to a vitos 240 for sure. An airsal I would believe is in between a vitos and a ct ?.. Then you have Porting and who does the porting that makes a big difference.

If judging on porting or head mods or anything, consider the same treatment to either option. Ported 240 or ported dt.. ???

Im not sure a 240 sleeve would fit in a Dt cylinder. I will look into that. At least a stroked crank would fit as long as the head could afford to be cut.

If you're up for the challenge I'd love to see a dt swap.

This one sits in my garage, belongs to my son:

The motor came from this donor, which I kept around as a beater for friends without bikes to ride.

The cylinder porting is nearly identical except for the the powervalve. The powervalve would complicate any sleeving effort. Having used both transmissions, I would opt for a Blaster transmission as the better gear ratios. The DT200 has a bull-low 1st and a tall "highway" top gear. The electrical, rad and plumbing add complication to what is an otherwise simple quad. Maximum power potential is about the same for both engines, the powervalve only helps mid-range. The DT200 will soak up and expel heat better than the aircooled, so if long hard hot runs are planned it is a better choice. Otherwise I would opt for the simplicity of the aircooled cylinder.

@ Best. Do you think there is enough material in the head for a stroker crank and head re chamber ?

Easily. Stroking is no problem by shimming the base gasket and
the head is very close to good already. Just needs a light skim off.
Specifically, match the quench (squish) angle to the piston dome and
pick the chamber shape and volume you want.
The plug is already low and the shape is fine for high RPM.

Anyone else have some insight on either of the 2? Please, any info would be greatly appreciated. The goods and or bads of either.

I had a blaster with a dt270 engine. I sleeved the cylinder, fitted a 75mm piston from a waverunner and installed the +4 crank. I think I have the cylinder laying around my garage, I will post some pictures if I remember.

Hmmm.. :D.. That sounds interesting. Some pics would be great. Never heard of that swap before.

What type of waverunner the 650 uses a 82mm and the 500 is 72mm
