is the one side supposed to be blacker than the other and should the top of the piston be that black? The cylinder i think is ok it eels smooth all the way around.

that looks good, the head is always cleaner on one side due to the intake and frech fuel cleaning off the carbon on that side.

i can tell you that your gasket was leaking pretty bad though! use a new one!!

Ya i just ordered a new one. I washed it yesterday and when i took it a part there was was water on the gasket so some probably got through
