I read about a TRX250R that had a shortened swingarm and was therefore great on accel. I haven't really heard much about this.

Does a shortened swingarm increase accel?

Does a lengthened swingarm increase topspeed?

I find this intriguing lol, so any answer is appreciated.

i say the further back it is, the less traction you'll get because your weight isnt directly over the tires anymore
but the answer to most of your questions is no

In theory, a shorter swing arm will give more traction do to shifting the weight ratio more to the back wheels. In real life, you would have to have a wheely bar to benefit from the extra traction do to the weight shift.

In theory , a longer swing arm will not give you extra top speed but may allow you to reach the Maximum speed by increasing the wheel base thus making it more stable at high speeds.

Apart from the added stability on corners, a longer arm assists in keeping the front on the ground whilst accelerating. It also assists on jumps as the rear wheels stay on the ground fractionally longer allowing the jump to be attacked more aggressively.

If you stuff up a jump the longer arm allows more control over the rear wheels to raise or lower the nose, using throttle and brake techniques.
