My dad plays. He's got about 8 Fender's. He is really pretty good and over the years has collected them. He had this really sweet carbon fiber Flea bass (flea from red hott chili peppers) that was 5 string but they didn't make it like that much I don't think. I believe he uses a 4 but I might be wrong. He has also made a few from catalogs with parts he has collected. You can get a good bass body in some of those things for cheap. And just play and get good and the nice stuff will fall into your lap. But NEVER go with a name just because you like it, play it first and make sure you like it. My brother had a Paul Reed Smith guitar and it sucked butt. It was lower end though.
i've played LOTS of guitars.........some are no namers, one of the favorites i've had is a Silvertone Les Paul knock off. made in the same factory as the epiphones, picked it up used for like 100 bucks lol. i've had like 5 jacksons (2 rhoads V's, a king V, 2 stratish ones) have an Ibanez RG350DX that i'm loving, a oooold kramer, an eleca les paul, 3 silvertones (still have 2 a strat and the les paul, the other was an SG) Harmony Les Paul, Arbor Explorer copy, i've got a memphis guitar that i completely went through, another unknown body thats kinda like a les paul that has an Aria Pro neck on it.....the gf's epiphone les paul special is around too. man i've had a lot of guitars.......

i play drums and bass....i have a ibanez XT, if i rember right lol....i havent played in forever lol
