I built this tool to hold the clutch boss in place while i loosen the nut to get it out of the clutch basket.

What i used was 1" wide steel stock and drilled two holes 2.5" apart from each other. I then used 1.5"M10 nuts and bolts that will fit snug enough in the clutch boss teeth that it wont damage them.

If you can see in the pic I have yellow dots showing where the bolts will slide into, it gives you more than enough space for a socket to get the nut out.

thats a good idea but a rag in the gears works well also, alot of people use rags to do this

I tryed doing it with a rag but I couldnt get the leverage by myself, and my good friends were watching the Celtics and didnt want to help haha

To get it off, I use a quick blurp with a impact wrench. Mine come right off without the counter-leverage. I use a copper penny or aluminum spacer in the gears to torque it back on.

Yip penny's do work well! Ya may want to use a rag too with your set up as those bolts could put bur's on the aluminum. But aleast ya did it yourself!!

holy old thread batman! i use the clutch holder sometimes, and sometimes i use the penny, depends on if i feel like finding the holder or not lol
