Did I make a boner newb mistake?

ok, so im gonna try to find some belray gear saver 80w locally, but if i cant its really ok to use ANY ATF fluid?

do i need to make sure its the right kind? i dont wanna do the same thing again.lol.

ANY specific things i need to look for?

thanks again, guys.

so i went to my local cycle gear and got some bel-ray gear saver 80w motorcycle transmission oil. the guy there said it was the good stuff for wet clutches, and the bottle says "improved clutch performance and shifting" so im hoping this is the right stuff and my clutch stops slipping after changing the oil. i noticed the bottle does not say 2 cycle or specifically "clutch safe", so someone please tell me if this is the wrong stuff.lol.

herre is a link to the same stuff at rockymountainatv

that is TOTALLY the right.....sh*t...bro Now if it was me I would drain what you have , fill it up with the new and ride it around a few then drain it again and change it again just to clean it out. It will take a little to get that other sh*t out if you dont take it apart........just me 2 pennies

OK guys....GREAT SUCCESS!!!! (read with Borat accent), i got home tonight and put in the new oil after letting the other crap drain for about two days to let every possible drop out. started her up and she ran like a raped ape!! too bad it was raining and i couldn't stay out riding :( now for some other good news, my hydraulic rear brakes should be here soon!!!!

im glad i asked here before i bought the clutch to replace it. for all the help i got here, i had to become a supporting member, well worth it!

and maybe this thread will help some other poor shmoe who does the same thing!

if you use the wrong oil and your clutch begins slipping, drain all the oil out, replace it with some bel-ray gear saver SAE 80w motorcycle transmission oil, and it should go fine. for good measure im gonna do another oil change after i can ride for about an hour, hopefully tomorrow.
