Death by towing....

Well, ive been pretty busy lately but I thought i had to tell you guys this.. A young guy I know who recently got himself a blaster and loves it to death calls me randomly about problems, issues and advice about his new toy. I always give him the best advice I can and try to get him to treat this machine with the care it needs. However, being young and willing to learn, he sometimes does things that cost him quite a bit.

In december, he did a rebuild and was told that when assembling, he must not put the oil feed onto the carb, (injector still in use) needless to say, that new piston didnt last very long at all...

Anyway, I gave some clearance specs and he got it going again with new kit.

Yesterday he called me again...this time, his clutch is shot. He says that he tried to tow a beach buggy up the driveway with his blaster and after that he could nto get any gears...he says it starts and runs but cant get gears and the clutch does not engage...

So I told him to strip the clutch and inspect for heat discolouration....Im pretty sure its useless.

I emailed him some prices, and useful websites as well as a link to the downloadable manual.

I cant help but feel sorry for him, I wish he would just call me before he does things like this so I could tell him NNOOOOO!!!!

there are two ways to learn, and apparently your friend likes to learn the hard way. He'll come around, eventually....and hopefully be better off for the experience (as well as lighter in the wallet).

I figured out that hard way on a few things. It sucks but I love the experience!

blaster+towing=fail! the clutches don't like to hold THAT much anyway

I've seen kimpex "hitches" made for blasters before and thought to myself "who would use something like a blaster to tow anything at all?!".

So what, are we talking a full size two seat dune buggy here? 3,000lb sand rail?

<---------- good thing about being only 15, is that you can screw up with out ppl getting to mad at you! lol its good that ur helping him tho, but try to tell him that its not a tractor, and give him a little speech on how the engine works a little, so he know somewhat of what he is doing
