i took my blaster in to get some simple carb work done and to check out everything else, you know get it ready for the ridin season. get the top pulled off and the piston is all scraped up and the case is a little gouged and the crank bearings are shot. so i guess i hm goin to get it bored to .60 over with new piston and crank bearins, new reeds and some other sh*t. which sucks because i just got this bike2 weeks ago and the guy i bought it from said there is nothin wrong with it and it wouldnt need anything. paid 900 for this bike and now i got to dump a bunch of money in it to make it right. guess thats what i get for grabbin the first bike i found. on the up side this should be one bad biotch when its done.

thats what happended to me, i bought mine for 1350 and it started tocking, needed a new topend, luckily the botom was fine, it weird, i can't wait fo my build coming up next winter.

lol so the thead title shoud be "damn previous owner" its not the poor bikes fault man. yeha it does suck but doing a topend on a blasty is pretty cheap and like you said it will be nice and fresh when its done.

your right im sorry it isnt the blastys fault. this 240 that he put in is not even a year old. my mechanic said he did a sh*tty job with the carb and the bore kit. said the reeds were stuck open.they were 2 stage reeds that were on it but i bought a stock set to put back in do you guys think that will matter much. the guy workin on my bike said it would be better to put stock ones back on. idk what you think.

dude.................i feel your pain but i bought mine as a basket case. here is what i had....

a arm bushings=shot
crankshaft=missing
2 clutch baskets=both grooved to hell
swingarm bearings=trash
carrier bearings=garbage
sprockets=guess what...JUNK
stock carb=the threads at the top aren't good enough to get a cap tight on it....don't figure this out till i spend 40 bucks on a float and a rebuild
crank bearings=shot
reeds=JUNK
all the cables that came with it.....garbage
chain adjusters.....you guessed it FUBAR

now go to assembly.....
-pull out every head stud when i torque them...not at the same time mind you....it took me 6 times at it to find out they're all junk and fixed them one at a time
-get the motor in the chassis and go to put the pipe on...the bolt holes for the pipe are completely stripped, one has already been helicoiled and it failed to...
-pull motor from chassis fix it, put it back in....
-rest of assembly seems to go off without a hitch....

now finally i get to ride it right? nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
-pull in the clutch, pop it into gear, thing jumps and dies.....great
-find out that somethings not right, the clutch boss won't turn inside the clutch basket
-fix problem, go out and get the top end broken in

-go out to ride a bit....strange 1st gear is gone.....pretty soon only gear i have is 3rd

i've actually ridden this thing for about 10-15 minutes (not including putting around for break in) and spent 5 months spending stupid amounts of money and working ridiculous hours on it. now i get to split the cases and figure out what shelled in the trans!

eh dual stage are not that great, i use them but im not overly impressed with em. i dont think you will notice anything with that change.

I agree with noober, I had dual stage reeds and I think they actually might've caused a small loss on topend...now I'm back to the stock reeds. It won't be too bad to get your blasty fixed, plus once its all done, you will know its tuned properly and won't have to worry about trusting the previous owners work.
