Has anyone customer made their own plastics?

I used to work for a company who made fiberglass utility truck beds. I am confident working with fibreglass and I am thinking I could make some pretty sic "plastics".

My only concern being that fiberglass would be too rigid.

Any other ideas for materials? I want to keep it as inexpensive as possible.

I am going to start drawing out some ideas today and start researching things.

What you guys have for me?

yup we used fiberglass to make our hoods......it does crack easliy if u hit something, we molded it over the plastic hood and it held until hell boy hit a tree and cracked it lol

I figured the fiberglass would be fine for the hood until you hit something. It may even be ok for the front fenders as long as you support it well enough.

I have been looking for ways to increase the flexability w/o decreasing the rigidity.

Are there any types of resin that provide strength, rigidity and weathering?
