crankshaft separating tool......HELP!!!!

where the hell can i get a crankshaft separating tool lol i need help, google is no help nor is yamaha:-/

normally its moer cost effective to just buy a new one.. you can get a whole wiseco kit on egay with crank, gaskets and bearings for $160 or a stroker for $175ish but thats jsut for the stroker crank no bearings or gaskets.

i have the crank but i cant get the old one out, i spun a bearing in the lower crank arm so the whole thing needs to come out of it, there is a special tool to get the thing in and out i just want the tool to get it out you know what i mean

You need a press to push the pin out of the two webs. I use a steel plate and do this one side at a time. Taking it apart is not the problem, putting it back together is. Both sides of the shaft have to be perfectly aligned when they are pressed together. I know of three ways to do this. 1. A crankshaft alignment fixture ( $1000 ) , 2. A set of bench centers with dial indicators and a big brass hammer. 3. A lathe with centers in the chuck and tail stock. This is a tough job if you've never done it before. You may want to send it out. PM me if you need help or have more questions.

I think from reading your post, your not trying to rebuild the crank... You can not get the bearings out of the case... Is that correct?
If you use a propane torch to heat the area around the bearing it will help.... Use a socket to press out the bearing using a press....
As Ken mentioned about the rebuilding of the crank, it is a PAIN to rebuild some of these cranks out there. The cost of the fixture equipment , and all the other tools would be thousands of dollars.
The cost of cranks today are cheap compared to the 90's
To install the bearings back in the case
2. Use a propane torch to heat the bearing area of the case
1. Place the bearing in the freezer for a couple of hours...
If you have the shop book,I would suggest looking over that section of the book..

I used a deadblow hammer for removal and installation. Worked just fine for replacing crank bearings. Like KennedyPower said, put the bearings in the freezer for about an hour to shrink them a little. Grease the bearings and pound them in.

Yes sounds like he is trying to get the crank out of the cases. Prop it up on some wood blocks so its solid and us a block of hard wood on the end of the crank and tap it out.
