Hey guys you can check my page i have an 02 Blaster and i wanna know would just the original 03-06 rear & front brake assembly work for 88-02 models because my front brake works but my rear doesnn't and i'm thinking of modding it to an 03-06 version Yamaha Blaster with plastics and all... And let me know if i would have to change swingarms or something as well....THNKx

the cheapest way to go is to get awk08's conversion kit for the pre 03's there are brackets missing on the frame for the rear brake assembly. His kit fixes all of that. pm him

for the fronts you need the whole brake set up and it bolts right on. just pricy. but there is a member selling his whole front brake setup for a damn good price. his name is prime. pm him

ok thnkx tell me some more stuff im going to need and what about you do you have some stuff from your 03-06 blaster

that is really the only differences besides the hood, headlight and afew electrical things. everything else is the same. and i run all the stock 03 parts

There are no brackets to hold/mount an 03+ headlight on 02 and earlier frames and there are no lower mounting brackets for the 03+ hoods on the bottom.

Actually you could maybe MAYBE hit up project blaster an c if they still have the mounting conversion kits.. if not I've seen some people make mounting brackets.

I think someone does sell weld on kits. I have a pre 03 frame with very well made looking brackets on it. not factory but damn close.

I was PB in the last couple of days and it appeared they still had the brackets but I thought they were just to connect the 1 middle lower mounting hole from an 02 and earlier to the 2 lower side mounting holes on an 03+ hood. There would still be no mounts for the head light using that set up. The only early model I read about that had the 03= hood and head light had mounted the head light to the hood, not the frame. If you're not worried about lighting you could buy one of the Maier 03+ style hoods that are just vented without the headlight opening and run no head light or even use some of the small round auto driving lights with the 12vac residential halogen bulbs.

yea from what i know its the light that has all the mounting. the back bolts line up fine but u have to also weld in the single front mount for the plastic itself. the light have rubber mounts and a secure welded section that could be welded in. i looked into swappin a newer hood i had onto the older bike but you pretty much have to butcher it and weld everything in
