ok i know for sure that the nology is the best way but its also the most expensive. anybody got any advice whether i should do 40 buck ricks hot shot or 70 buck amr monster. i thnk awk has a monster and likes it. what ya think guys??

THANX. compared to stock is it a wide difference when it comes to starting it. and does it give your spark plug a clean burn?

i've heard they are good for modded engines and ima have a ported bbk. so i wanna make sure i have the rite stuff. plus i heard and brings a stronger spark to start your engines.

are you sure? strokedtater said his nology coil makes a difference when starting up his dragger. his is a highly modded engine. awk uses a monster and he likes it. i thnk it brings a lil improvement. but im not gonna say its a waste. its good for having an engine run clean.

No...............................................

thank you i almost knew they dont make a diff,

melonberry i gotta honda civic si with a d16 and i like it lol dosnt mean it works good. hell i wear boxers and i like them. the way i see it yamaha designed these engines and they did a prettty sweet job at it. stuff like the coil cant really be improved because the company designed it perfect as it is no need to change. the reason an aftermarket company makes them isent because it improves its prolly cuz there cheaper then genuine yamaha. so in this theory it would be worse to replace yours with one.

lol maybe thats why people like themmmm!!!!!!! they were a cheaper way of replaceing

do these really make a diff???

If its anything like replacing a stock coil and ignition on a car with an aftermarket MSD coil and ignition unit then the answer is, it depends.

On a stock or mildly built engine you will see little to no gains in power. A highly built engine can benefit from better, more even spark. Most aftermarket ignitions won't just give one spark it will give a longer duration spark to completely burn the atomized fuel creating more power.

its not.................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

ok dude. lls i understand what both of you guys are saying but. i still dont want to deal with my stock coil been siting for 4yrs so ima get a new one anyway :D

"It's not" Thanks for the great explanation. If it's not that's cool but don't leave us hanging. How do these aftermarket ignitions differ from stock units if at all?

lol i didnt leave u hanging, you didnt listion the first time. they dont differ at all only units that differ are the $$. i bet a ricks hot shot coil is cheaper then going to yamaha and buying a genuine yamaha blaster coil. the point is there a business that needs to make money.

melonberry im tellin ya dude dont be a sucker. take good advise when you see it. i gotta blaster with a dt200 motor in it thats been sittin for 10 years and after your bbk and ricks hot shot i bet ill still be pullin harder wit my old DIRTY brown sh*tty lookin genuine coil.

buy some power reeds, a intake spacer hell a set of grips, something worth it.

ok... i know you liquid cooled DT will pull more hp anyway. i have a reed spacer and VF3 too. im running a 72.5mm bbk with porting plus a 3mill stroker. so ima be doing ok. lol I:I

not to be off topic but why your DT been sittin that long? just wondering. i'd be tearing up sh*t wit that

i got 2 one is mint 87 still in the dt200 with wireing and powervalve and the other one which im using atm just got the motor and its an 84 was sitting before i got it. i robbed the topend off it and installed it onto a blaster bottem end and ran it for awhile. actuallly i just exploaded the damn cast piston in that motor BUT DIDNT DAMAGE THE HEAD OR CYLINDER :):):):) when she went i was scared of that these arnt replaceable. all i run aftermarket on the motor is an fmf system and uni air filter. its not ported shaved moddified and she worked good.
you could take your bbk and port it out to the specs of a dt and make some good power aswell as reconfigure your head and thats about all the difference. other then liquid coolig and the powervalve. these dt motors stock rev to almost 9500 rpm

Ohh I was listening. I was just skeptical that an aftermarket unit wouldn't be better in some sort of way. I was waiting for someone else to chime in and say "you are wrong Mr. Crown" lol. I guess it is better, just not performance wise. Less $

yea its hard sometimes when your interested in something and trying to find the right answers about it. i try to always spit the truth :p and just get to the honest point out there from what i know. some do some dont
