My clutch won't disengage... My Blasty will roll in neutral, but not in gear with the clutch pulled in. The clutch seems fine when riding. Any ideas as to what may be wrong?

usually related to bad oil, try draining the trans oil and replace with 650ml straight forward oil, it must not contain any anti friction goodies! even better get some yamalube trans-oil.

1. whens the last time the gearbox oil was checked, or changed ??
2. the cable could be stretched beyond it's service limit ??
3. the plates have worn and it needs adjusted internally

I'll check the gearbox oil today, and change it if possible. The cable seems fine. I read about this problem elsewhere, and it turned out to be that the bike needed to warm up. Apparently the wet clutch works best when at operating temperature.

sorry, we assumed you knew, it definately needs warmed up to operate properly

this is actually a highly debatable topic... many people use different things from gear oil to 5w-30 to atf type f fluid. a sure bet is use yamalube but i myself will use just about whatever i can find. just remember it cant have any anti friction additives.

my new driveline hd clutch recommends MOBILE 1 FULL SYNTHETIC 10W-30
they claim longer clutch life ????

the reason it wont disengage when its been sitting for a while is because the fiber disks stick to the steel ones after they havent been used for a while there is nothing wrong with it unless it does that while its running, and always change your transmission oil when it gets dirty. mine does this everytime i take it out and try to roll it in gear with the clutch but it works fine while its running and i always change my oil with yamalube

Any time I have to push a bike or quad it either isn't running or doesn't run X( , so I just put it in neutral so it's easier to push, so I don't have to fight the drag on the clutch. :o

I've been having a very similar problem with my 2000 KX125. When I'm riding it shifts fine but when I stop to talk to one of my buddies for a minute it stalls out while in gear even though i still have my clutch lever pulled in, but not when i'm in neutral. I've done everything from take the whole clutch asy. apart, changing the oil which wasen't good but not horrorfing either with Amzoil 10w-40 HP motorcycle oil and changing out the clutch springs with new ones which were at least a 1mm or 2 taller. and I still dont know whats going wrong. Last I rode the case side was very warm with 20 min of riding.
So good luck and try what I've done makes it behave better but it still grabs.
