I recenty got an 01 blaster, the guy told me the clutch needed adjusted...

well when you would pull the clutch in and kick it down into first it would jerk like it was in gear but nothing when i let the clutch out? then i pull the clutch in and put it in gear again and it takes right off. But downshifting it seems like its my shifter lever. Anyway i watched the clutch assembly video and the guy tells you but leaves out where to put the steel plates.

I did the best i could and now it does the same thing only it wont hardly move?? when i took the cover off so much black oil came out, way more than 650 ml. It seems like my gear shift may be part of the problem? Please help...

Basically it goes friction/steel/friction/steel etc, the steel plates have a little lip on them. you space the 6 of them equally e.g 3 across the top, left middle right and then same with the bottom, make sure the boss nut is talked up properly also..

Also, if its had to much oil you might want to leak test it and check the seals...

So... after reassembling my clutch 6 times lmao, i decided to dig deeper so i took the clutch basket off. My shift star was so loose i backed it out with my finger!! when i took the bolt out some metal pieces were broke behind it. I have a spare motor with a good shift star, im new to all this so im proud i found my own problem without spending money... Is it hard to swap that whole part out? Oh yeah the star is fine whatever is behind it broke.

your going to have to Split your cases on both motors to fix the one , you will need At least a flywheel puller and some kind of case splitter , I used a modified harmonic balancer puller to split my cases , A flywheel holder tool is also good to have and also a Clutch tool is almost needed to remove the clutch boss nut without damage , I learned the hard way

Great! my motor with the spare one is already split, how much would someone charge to fix this?

Well thanks for replying.

So i took my blaster to my local shop to see how much he would charge to swap out the shift cam that i already have, he says 400 dollars!!! I dont have that to spend on it so i bluffed and said i cant afford that i can do it myself i just didnt want to. He paused for a second and said just bring the motor and it will be 180.. is this a decent price? please respond quickly because if it is a decent price im dropping the motor off in the morning. Thanks to all who tried to help me. Oh yeah he also said he puts all the clutch plates in with the lips pointing in the same direction???

That's a good price. You should have him change the seals and main bearings while you're in there.

So i just got a call from the shop thats fixing my broken shift cam... he called to tell me he cant fix it.... because he cant get the flywheel off!! This shop has been around for a long time, has anyone else had this happen? What do i do now?

go get your motor and run away from that shop as fast as you can, if they can't get the flywheel off, they have no business going any further.
find a new local shop, or look in oconnor racings post above and call that number, thats who does everything to my motors, sure it's satisfying to do it yourself, but so much more satisfying knowing it is done to perfection by a professional and gonna last
just my .02 cents
