i just got a 2003 blaster in a trade,it needs top end rebuild and new crank seals so its going to be apart what are some cheap performance mods i can do to it? thanks

uni-air filter reeds reed cage spacer jet the carb remove air box lid and put a 14 tooth front sprocket on. all are pretty cheap and easy mods

yeah look on ebay for an exhaust. i just found a full fmf fatty pipe with silencer for 100 bucks in the want ads so there bound to be something else out there

thanks guys,i broke my leg in december on my dirt bike and got this blaster so i guess im going to be a quad rider for a while i was looking at reeds and spacer what would i change the jets to also what size sprocket should i use, also what is the stock size? thanks

The stock front sprocket size is 13 teeth. But I thought if you were going to change the sprockets you would make the front one smaller and the rear bigger.Or just change the rear one.

for one thing reed spacers dont let more air in, they increase the velocity of the air and cool the air going into the engine and i doubt they add 2.5hp. and for naes the stock sprockets are 13/40 and jets are230 main with a 26.5 pilot jet, i dont really know what to rejet to but im sure other people can help you out

The idea of reed spacers is to pull the reed back enough to uncover the boost port, gaining flow and therefore horsepower, any further and all you do is lower the crankcase compression, not desirable, in fact more crankcase compression makes more power....

thanks for the replies,i sent the cylinder out to get bored should have it back this week, monday im ordering the rest of my parts, oil injection block off, boyeson reeds, reed spacer and front sprocket,i want more bottom end power should i go with a 14 tooth sprocket and also what jetting should i go with with this set up besides first over bore filter and reeds and spacer everything else is stock.thanks

stock pilot jet is 32.5!!!!

If you want more power FORGET! the 14 tooth front sprocket, change the rear to a 41 or 42 tooth sprocket, get a Vforce III read cage, Boyson reed are just crap, I took them out of my bike and put in the Vforce and that was the single best improvement that I made!
If every thing is stock (intake and exhaust) the jetting (main) may not need more than a one or two size jump?, leave the pilot jet alone, my Blaster was just fine with the 240 kit all I ever changed in the stock carb was the main jet, and even after I put on the 34mm carb every one told me the pilot jet was to big, witch was pure bullshit!, the pilot has no effect beyond 1/8 throttle position! I ended up changing the needle jet, main jetting is all you'll need to do with the stock carb, and it'll depend on the mods you make, what we tell you here is just a "general guideline"!
I'd put a K&N with an outer wears on it and leave the lid off of the air box and get a good pipe, every one puts down the FMF but they are good for the low end, I like mine.

With the main jet do i go down or up in size with the sprocket im trying to rebuild this quad as cheap as possible cause im recovering from a broken leg and not working so i got this to keep me busy till i can ride bikes again, any way the back sprocket is good but the front is beat thats why i want to change front,i was thinking about keeping the air box lid off does that make a big difference also does it help to remove the back plate on the muffler.
