Whats involved with doing this?Are there any special tools required?Am i time and money ahead to have a local shop do it?
Changing rear axle bearrings?

it is simple all you have to do is band the old seals and bearings out and tap the new ones in....no special tools needed
well there is soem to it, have u taken out the axle yet??? you need a pair of axle wreches to do that, then once all thats off, u take a hammer claw and pry the bearing seals out, but be carful to not touch the houseing, or bend it should i say, then tap the bearings out, then once they're out u should freeze the new bearings and grease them up and tap them in with a socket slightly smaller than the outer race, or anything that will tap it in straight, then grease up the seals and tap them in without damaging them!!!!!then reasemble ur rear end.
just do it at home, i wouldn't pay them to do somthin that easy, plus u might be a little more carful at home then at the shop, they are kinda clumsy, my local shop destroyed my chrome valve stems, i they are gonna install the next set free, and the managers gonna do it more carful!!lol
While it's apart go to your local hardware store and get a grease fitting and drill and tap the carrier and install the grease fitting.It will prolong the life of the carrier bearings and you will not have to fully disasemble to grease them up.
The axle wrenches are my only concern since the manual i have says to torque them to 150 ft lbs and id hate to strip them out.
What are the tricks or tips you guys may have to get these off since its been sitting so long.Also are the nuts reusable?

The bearrings arent bad but i ordered a set and want to change them after the carrier and axle are powder coated.
