Broke my chain riding after dark over a mile into the woods behind my house. Started pushing it back but due to the heat decided to leave it there over night. I have never bought/replaced a chain. How does this work? Do i have to get one specifically for a blaster? Are there different sizes? Would i be able to get one at a shop that doesn't carry yamaha parts, in other words are chains interchangeable between companies? Any help you could give me would be much appreciated. I'd prefer to grab a chain tomorrow morning and put it on in the woods so i don't have to push that bastard.

any 520 chain will work. i prefer an oring chain. not sure on the length you need but the blaster uses a small size anyways so you can probobly buy one and cut it to fit. i usually take a grinder and grind the end of the pin and use a hammer and punch to knock it out to get the proper length and then put it back together with the master link. just try not to cut it to short!
another thing, check over your cases to make sure the chain breaking didnt crack them. i always buy a 520 chain from my local parts guy that is made for a specific heavy high horsepower bike, as long as it has enough links. if the chain is strong enough for a sport bike, its strong enough for my blaster

i'm pretty sure stock length chain is 92 links. if your running a stock swingarm, i'd probably get like a 95 link chain to be safe. the adjusting bolts on the carrier are 10mm and the nuts that lock them in place are 12mm. take both wrenches, a flat screwdriver and maybe a small hammer. i'm assuming you've put a chain on something before
