Like I said, I have a 2000 blaster 200 cc. When I first got it, it wouldn't crank over. After some troubleshooting it was determined we weren't getting spark to the plug. We had spark all the way up to the coil and the coil ohmed out right but no juice coming from the coil. Thinking this to be a coil issue we swapped the coil for a coil we knew was a good one. Still, juice to but not from the coil.......

After troubleshooting somemore we decided to disconnect the kill switch wire from the CDI..... We then had spark! It cranked over on the second kick.

Does this sound like a CDI issue or a bad kill switch? Either way, do you think placing a remote kill switch inbetween the factory kill switch and CDI box would work? Like I said, with the kill switch wire completely disconnected from the CDI it fires fine, just can't kill it unless you turn the fuel off and let it run its self out.

My thoughts are that I could pick up a simple switch that would allow me to open and close this circuit and then simply mount it on the bike somwhere else.

Any advice?

Well you've got two "kill switches" on a stock blaster, really. One being the red button, the other being the key. Before I owned my blasters, one of them had a problem with no spark, and I ended up bypassing the key and it was fixed. The ignition (thing the key goes into) is really cheesy and who needs/wants a key for a quad anyways?? There has never been a problem since bypassing the ignition.

If I didn't want to have a headlight (currently have two smoked voltage regulators!!) I would ditch the stock piece with the kill switch and headlight switch on the bars and just run a simple push-button kill switch! If I could find another way to control the lights (off-low-high) once I get a new voltage regulator, I will do that.

I try to always turn the kill switch back to the "on" position whenever I turn the quad off, because if I don't, 75% of the time I'll get on it, start kicking it over like crazy and then wonder why it won't start...until I turn the switch back on!!
