What is the best thing to use or what will work to seal the cases back after splitting them? Also where can i find some sealant for the cases? Thanks...

Don't use silicone. You should use a semi-drying sealer that is made to seal aluminum joints and is chemical resistant. The yamabond 4 is no longer available as with the threebond 1104. I sell the Threebond 1197 for $10 a tube if you want, it's what we seal all of our cases with.

idk what its called, buts its gray..i think its called ultra gray.....? its just like yamabond 4...made by permatex i believe.....

I got a tube of threebond 1104 that I use, had it for awhile now but its still good. Used it on all the motors me and my father have done.

honestly the biggest thing to focus on when putting cases back together is to make sure the mating surfaces are cleaned, primed, and dry. It doesnt matter what type of sealent you use if the surface its applied to is not cleaned and primed right, theres a big chance that it wont seal right and you end up burning you engine down.

you can still find yamabond 4 around.. it's a semi drying sealer.. 3 bond i hear works well too.. i've always used yamahbond 4.. stay away from yamabond 5 its a drying sealant and does not seal nearly as well as Yamabond 4.. wildcard probably has teh right 3 bond #'s.. i have them somewhere but for the life of me i can't remember where i wrote them down..

i know thta at one time it was said that yamabond 4 was going to be discontinued.. and yamabond 5 was to replace it.. thta was about a year and a half ago if i remember right.. my local dealer then was stocking yamabond 4 after that and said they had brought ti back due to complaints about yamabond 5.. 4 and 5 are actualyl completely different.. anyway i did a little lookign and yamaha had 4 still on thier site.. so i guess it's still available..

Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA - Adhesives & Loctite Yamabond 4 Motorsports

3.89 a tube +$3 shipping on ebay... i just picked up 3 tubes.. just incase it really is discontinued this time.. plus thats still cheaper than what a dealer charged..

I agree 100% with wild card.. Do not, do not , do not use rtv. It is to thick it will screw up your clearences. Also believe it or not the cases do flex a little with rtv it will crack the seal. That is why you need the semi drying sealant like the old 1104 or the new 1194..
