carb issue

I'm having the EXACT same problem. I checked and double and triple checked everything. My problem was the reeds. They are very sensitive. Mine were not sitting flush and the gap was so little (less than the width of a razor blade) between the reeds and the cage that I didn't notice it in the 10 or so times I had it apart. Tap on the reed and see if it makes a clicking noise when it hits the cage. If it does, they may be warped. If that's the case, get new reeds, new plug and it should kick right over. If not the reeds, a carb/jetting issue maybe?

i believe they are stock reeds..has fmf gold series fatty turbine core 2 exhaust..k and n filter. i premix 32:1. stock 230 main and belive the stock pilot is 32.5. i havnt tried pop starting it..i mean..ive checked everything it could be. i guess my only option is to just start replacing stuff. what are ur guys opinions on bysen reeds on stock cage..if they do that?

Wait a minute bruhh.....Is it the FMF Fatty pipe and the Turbine Core silencer? or is it just the rear silencer???? if its the Fatty Pipe with the silencer, you deff. need to bump up that main! They are supposed to be at least a 260, but my friend ran the same upgrades you have with a 280 main, just do some plug chops!!!!

yeah ill do a couple plug chops and see. yeah its the fatty and silencer. i just bought this bike last night so im still discovering these little things. so even tho the plug is wet i should still go up in the main? or it has nothing to do with that?

yeah ill do that. thanks a lot

No Problem! That's what were all here for! and one more thing....the air/fuel mixture screw (bronze flat tip screw) on the side of the carb should be screwed all the way in (thats what she said) and backed out 1.5 turns....that could be another reason why it wont run...

sorry blaster boy the main jet has nothing to do with his hard starting problem.

Nathan, keep your story straight, your problem was the slide was set to high in the carb.

02Ranger:

Double check the float level, take the fuel mixture screw out, the jets out, the choke plunger out and clean the carb THEN use compressed air and blow it through where the idle jet screws in, then blow through the little holes in the back side of the carb, then blow the choke plunger hole, blow everywhere basically

what you are doing by putting your hand behind ther carb is pulling fuel up out of the carb because your pluged up somewhere also check for air leaks in your reed assembly/carb boot by spraying wd40 or brake cleaner around the area while the engine is running if it changes the engine speed there is a leak.

good luck

when you get it started try to pull the choke and see if that changes things while its running.. maybe the choke circuit is not work properly.

Nathan just realized you maybe having different issues now, but do you really think they apply to 02rangers problem, sorry for the jab earlier

I agree with you on this. By putting you hand on the back of the carb you are causing a kind of vaccume in the carb so it is sucking in more gas.

Give you carb a complete cleaning and if you can get it dipped also.
