I have a 2004 blaster and could not get it to start a while back. I ended up eliminating the TORS, cleaned the carb, and replaced the floats. Now I can get it to run, but it will not usually rev and if it does it cuts out and the engine dies. I was wondering if the needle position had anything to do with that. I tried moving it, but saw no change to speak of. Anyone have any clue as to what might be going on? I also took the reeds out and cleaned them. Besides a little dirt they look great.

Did you really inspect the reeds for chips and cracks. How is your airfilter?

Did you get a tors eliminator kit or just do it yourself. New throttle cable, carb cap, and add the idle screw?

Have you checked your plug?

I think that I found at least part of the problem with with the engine not reving. I found a problem with the needle jet. I bought the kit and did the TORS override. Now my problem is that I did a compression test and got 75 psi. I took it apart and looked at the piston and cylinder. They are both dirty near the top of the piston and the piston has a small scratch on one side of it. The reeds look good. I am thinking that I may need to rebuild the top end, but could anything else be causing the compression problem?
