broken shift shaft

Has anyone ever had a shift shaft break somewhere in sidethe engine case, riding today went to get a gear to pass my buddy an shifter was flopped down, stopped an looked thinking shifter spun on shaft an found the shift shaft seems broke, it spins in circles an can pull out till hits foot peg, wtf

Never actually seen one break. I have seen a ton of bent ones and even some that needed to be cut in order to be removed.

Yeah ive seen tons of bent ones well, I had to cut the one out of my wifes quad cause it was badly bent, but yep im sure mine is broke

wont be able to pull cover off till Saturday, when it broke i rode home in second gear an took wifes quad an continued my day of riding

haha yeah thats what im thinking, if i pull left foot peg ill be able to slide shaft out of sprocket side with out pulling cover

yeah i know that, i was just saying that to put the situation into perspective, cause there is no way you should ever be able to pull the shift shaft out from sprocket side

Ok, update, pulled shifter off shaft, pulled clutch cover and removed the clutch basket, found shift shaft indeed broken in half, it broke clean at the E clip slot on the pawl side, new one is in the mail, courtesy of DUALSTROKE, thanks Ian
