I was outside prepping the bike for the new reeds coming in tomorrow and got to the last bolt on the reed cage and it was seized up. Tried putting some PB Blaster on it but no luck. Wish I would have thought before hand and put a torch to it and then tried it....but it broke off flush with the jug.

Gotta buddy that works at a construction company and they have this special welder rods that are made for broken bolts and they just weld another head of a bolt onto it and then extract them.

Wish I had the money....I'd say it's big bore time! LOL

Anyone else have any suggestions? Deilling if I had an angled drill....hard to get to with the limited space or I'd drill it myself and re-tap it. Guess this is why the stock one's were never changed ;)

it could of been cross threaded from someone else before. you can try welding on a new head but it might break too if it's in there good. If it's broke off flush not sure how you are going to attempt to weld though. You might have to take off the jug and drill and retap or heli coil it.

I'll get another stock jug if I gotta go that route...heli coil isn't bad for that tho because them aren't high torque bolts.

I was thinking the cross threaded thing too...hard to tell!

No big rush....if someone has a good ported top end they wanna get rid of then I'd be game at a fair price..

i've had 2 break, the top one was stickin out enuf to cut a groove in and get a screwdriver on, it broke puttin it in, and wasnt seized, plus just rebuilt in the spring, so came right out, the bottom kicker side broke, and if ya look the bottom ones stick thru the other side, and i grabbed the threads stickin out with vise grips, and turned it out the front side, but it hit the tranny vent, so i had to cut it with the dremel cutoff, and then kept threadin it thru, i got lucky twice
you could also try some easy-outs or a reverse drill bit, but without an angle drill you'd have to pull the motor

So this is the one on the side with the kickstart and on the bottom.....does it thread all the way through? Looked like it stopped to me...but i only looked quick at it. I had a little sticking out so i stuck vise grips on it and tried turning it to only break it off flush...

yes it threads all the way thru, look toward the front where it enters, where the tranny vent is, pull the vent tube, and try to get the vise grips on it, but i'd leave the pb blaster set overnight then try puttin a little heat to it, i wouldnt get carried away with the torch, remember that's only aluminum, if you do get it to thread thru, it'll hit the metal vent before it comes out, thats where the dremel cutoff wheel comes into play, but ya gotta be careful to only cut the bolt, not into the jug or vent, and also cover the vent witha rag so filings dont get in the tranny
