Blasty noise?

Blaster has been making a noise. It hapens when i am accelerating out of low rpms. Its like a crack crack crack, really crisp, most time only 3 to 4 cracks. Its seems to be always at that certain rpm. Seems to happen more when I need to downshift like when I am in 4th and should downshift to third but go ahead and lug it out. There is no noise during heavy engine breaking.
I was reading around and it seems like it might be piston slap what do you guys think? Thanks

Wow thanks for all the help guys.:-/Took off the cylinder this weekend. I couldnt feel any play in my rod or crank bearings. The bore didnt look that bad but I took it to the shop and they said it is out of spec and needs to be rebored. I guess I will go ahead and do that and see if it gets rid of the noise.

Didnt see your post, and Im not an expert but Ill put in my .02

Your engine makes different noises based on your jetting. If youre rich, it makes a blurbly noise thats more hollow sounding. If youre lean it makes a crisper raspy pingy noise that varies depending on the degree of the rich/lean.

You should really do a few plug chops and make sure your jetting is good.

Your description almost sounds like youre lean in that specific place. It might just be a needle jet adjustment or maybe just up one pilot jet size.

Yeah, sorry Dude. Not often that a post goes unanswered around here. Weekend is a bit thin though, a lot of guys go riding.

Sounds like you are going ahead with the bore. I hope that helps. If not, Luni might have a point about lean detonation, especially on accel. That usually sounds more like marbles banging around or somebody hitting your motor with a hammer, but thats just interpretation. Good luck.

Thank you for the responces. I think its more than just pinging because its so loud it does sound like someone smaking the engine with a hammer though. It has also slowly gotten worse. It did not used to do it all the time but does now.The cylinder is being rebored and should be ready this weekend.I:I After I intall the cylinder I will check jetting just to be on the safe side.

Ewwww. That sounds more like piston slap. Hopefully your new bore will take care of it.
